Arthur L. Alston was born January 12, 1919 in Ladson, SC to Syrus and Dora Alston.  Arthur was the 4th born of 6 siblings. Arthur departed this life on Sunday, February 7, 2010.

He attended school in Berkeley County.  He grew up in the faith at Philadelphia Baptist Church and was baptized for the remission of his sins.  Arthur grew in grace despite loosing their mother at a young age.

Arthur got a job at Westvaco Pulp and Paper company but was drafted in the military.  After fulfilling his military duties in the Navy during WWII, after the war was over Arthur returned home and received his job back at Westvaco known then as West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company.

Arthur worked for 45 years and retired as a lab technician.  Arthur was married to the late Ora Lee Alston for 53 years.  Out of this union, nine children were born, one child Syrus preceded him in death.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children  Ms. Shirlene Manigault, Mr. Robert (Carol) Alston, Mrs. Margaret (William) McCall, Elder Raymond (Joann) Alston, Mr. Marvin (Susan) Alston, Mr. Arthur Lee Alston, Mr. Gene Alston, Mr. Freddie (Sandra) Alston.

Arthur has a host of Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousin, grand and great nieces and nephews.
