Mrs. Marion Estelle Varner-Linning, daughter of the Late William Calvin and Dorothy Mae Simmons Varner was born December 7, 1942 in Berkeley county. She gained her wings on Thursday December 14,2023 peacefully in her home.
Marion was educated in the Berkeley County school system. She accepted Christ at an early age while attending Grove Hall United Methodist Church, where she was a member on the Usher board. While ushering, she met the love of her life James (Honey Honey) Linning, Sr., in 1959.From there, an everlasting love blossomed and they were wed in 1962. From this union they were blessed with two children. Marion taught beginners Sunday School and sang on the choir. After her marriage, she moved her membership to Brownsville Community Church of God in Summerville, SC where she served until her health failed.
Marion was the family historian(encyclopedia). If you didn’t know you ask Marion and she’ll tell you. She was a comedian, actress, and “Ms. Feisty and sassy”. All the “heifers” know who you are. Marion was always by her husband James side and where you saw one you saw the other. Her love for her family was extraordinary and like no other.
Preceding Marion in death, her loving husband, James Linning, Sr., parents, William Calvin Varner and Dorothy Mae Simmons Varner, siblings; Christine Varner Evans, William Varner, Freddie James Varner, Rosa Lee Varner Myers, and Ernest Calvin Varner.
Left to Cherish her memories are her children James Linning, Jr. and Vanessa Linning-Shuler, both of Summerville, SC, grandchildren, Antwain (Catherine) Toombs, and Derrick R. Shuler, three great grandchildren, Nasir, WesLinn, and Novah Estelle Toombs, siblings; Anna Varner, Curtis N. Varner, Sr., Evelyn Varner, Romenia Varner Bryant(Harvey), Margaree (Samuel) Limehouse and Emma Lee (Alphonso) Tucker, sister and brothers’ in-law; Herbert St. Julian Linning, Sherman F. Linning ( Loretta), Jennie E. Linning, and Thomas Linning; two aunts, Maggie Mae Simmons and Daisy Bell Limehouse; goddaughter Joanne Evans, Joanne Linning, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends
