Mallory Varner Obituary

Mallory Jermaine Varner, affectionately known as “Mal” to his immediate family, was born on April 22nd, 1974 in Charleston, SC.  He was born the 2nd child of the late Freddie James and Greena Gail (Varner) Pinckney.

An extremely dedicated worker, Jermaine was educated in the Berkeley County School System.  He was employed as the Manager of the Sangaree KFC for many years, but started working for the franchise at the tender age of 16 years old.  Through those many years Jermaine came to be known as a mentor and friend to many young people. He quietly went about the business of opening doors for young people.  He was a mentor, a buddy, a pal, and a true friend that would stick to you closer than a brother.

He was a loving father, brother, son, nephew, cousin, and a loving god-father to many.  He had a heart for people. If anybody showed up in a time of need it would be Jermaine.  The best part about that is, though he helped and rescued many people, he never uttered a word nor bragged about it; no one knew about his wonderful acts of kindnesses except him, those he helped and God.  Though his heart was broken often, he was a man who never held a grudge. He would still be the one who would show up and come to your rescue, unconditionally.

As a child he had a tender heart of forgiveness; forgiving came natural to him.  If he loved you, he really loved you. He was truly one of a kind and he loved his family; family was his passion.  He loved to watch his Dallas Cowboys, fish, hunt, work in his garden, and especially cook; he could cook collard greens that were so delicious you would want to slap your mama.

At an early age Jermaine accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal savior.  In November of 2019 Jermaine rededicated his life to Jesus. He surrendered to Jesus as his only Savior.  At 1:20 pm, on the afternoon of Friday January 10th, 2020, “Mal” Jermaine Varner peacefully departed this life to go home to be with his Father where he will have joy forevermore.  He was surrounded by his Mother, brother, and sisters. He leaves behind his children, Marquis Jermaine Varner and Jamia Michele Varner (Ladson, SC), his mother, Greena Gail Pinckney(Columbia, SC),  his baby brother, Kobi Varner (Atlanta, GA), baby sister Ashley Rene and Marcellus Tilly (Summerville, SC), his baby sister Alyiah Mia Polite (Longridge, SC), baby sister Latoya Myers (Goose Creek, SC), his children’s mother, Yevette Cook(Ladson, SC), a niece, nephew, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends,  and god-children.

“Mal” Jermaine lived his life full of vigor, always flashing that infectious smile that would light up a room.  He is and will be sorely missed by family and friends, but his memory will burn brightly forever.
