Brother David Pryor was affectionately known as, "Boot" and "Big Apple" in the Ridgeville area. He was the eldest child to the late Obie Lee Pryor and Vinnie L Adams-Pryor. He was born on May 12, 1926 and raised up in the Campbell Thickett Community of Ridgeville, SC.
Brother David knew the importance of having Jesus Christ in his life. He was a lifelong member of Bethel AME Church in Ridgeville, SC. He enjoyed riding to church with West Pryor and Hattie Brown. He was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in tongue at Gospel Mission Apostolic Church in Charleston, SC. Believing and knowing the power of prayer, he will always tell loved ones, "I'm praying for you".
Brother David worked at a lumber yard at an early age. He later lost his sight and attended the Commission School of the Blind in Columbia, SC. In school, he learned how to manage personal care and daily tasks and to make leather belts and bags.
Brother David is known for walking around the Ridgeville area to visit family and friends, not letting his blindness hold him back. He enjoyed music; from singing spirituals, playing the harmonica, listening to music, and always having a radio by his bedside. He would also call family and friends to make sure that they were alright and would end his call with "I'm praying for you". Brother David loved riding around with Sis (Carrina Aiken). He enjoyed traveling to different places such as New York, Florida, Indiana, and Georgia with family.
On March 11, 2014, Brother David heard a voice from heaven saying, "Servant of God, well done! Rest from thy loved employ; the battle fought, the victory won, enter thy Master's joy."
