Obituary

Deacon Harold Edward Turner took his heavenly Father's hand and quietly transitioned on Friday January 10, 2025 at Trident Medical Center North Charleston, SC surrounded by his loving family. We come together today to celebrate his life. Harold attended Emanuel Baptist Church where he became a member and was baptized. He was ordained a deacon by Pastor John T. Miller where he served with great pride. He loved the Lord and he loved being a deacon. While attending Emanuel Baptist Church he sang on the senior and brotherhood choirs. Harold was educated in the Dorchester County Public School System. Being the hard worker he was, Harold worked several jobs throughout his life. He was hired at Coburg Dairy in Summerville in 1969 where he became a shipping Supervisor. When the Summerville plant closed he relocated to the West Ashley plant and later to the North Charleston plant until he retired after forty (40) years of service. Harold didn't know at the time when Patricia slid into him at second base, she would become his wife. They married each other on September 18, 1964. To that union they had five children. As the children got older they loved supporting them in different sporting events. They traveled to and from to watch their children participate and cheered them on. Then grandchildren came and they continued to travel and cheered them on So many different sports, baseball, softball, football, wrestling, track and field, cross country, flag football and cheerleading. Even on the college level they continued to travel to different track meets. Harold's favorite sport was fishing, you could set your clock. He would go early in the morning. If the fish biting he would be home by 12 (noon). When his health started to decline, he continued to fish but not as much, that was a sport he really loved. Watching boxing was his next favorite sport. If there was a match on he would be in front of the tv. The Carolina Panthers loss their biggest fan. He became a fan soon as the franchise came to Charlotte. Win or lose, he was a die-hard fan. He was a jokester and a prankster, always scaring us with different Halloween mask long after Halloween was over. Our Mom had to stay on him to stop scaring the children. There was never a dull moment in the Turner household. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Deacon and Deaconess Sammie and Lucilla Turner, two children Colethia Denice Turner, Joey Wallace Turner and five siblings Robert Barnes (Janie), Earnestine Simmons (Louis), Sammie Turner Jr (Edna), Lillian Turner and Fred Turner.
