IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ebonie
Ervin
January 17, 1975 – February 3, 2026
Ebonie Ervin, 51, of Charleston, transitioned peacefully on February 3, 2026, at Roper St. Francis in Berkeley County. Ebonie had a deep love for reading and learning, a passion that guided her life’s work. This passion began at a young age due to Ebonie’s love for learning, specifically reading. She dedicated over a decade to education, leaving a lasting impact on countless students. Her career began at a local library, where she oversaw the children’s department. She implemented numerous programs that helped spark children’s love for reading and learning. In her most recent role at Clay Hill Elementary School, she served as a library specialist, where she created engaging educational programs and nurtured a love of literacy in children. Ebonie also extended her gift for teaching beyond the classroom, including instructing English as a Second Language, always striving to uplift and empower others through knowledge. Though Ebonie did not have children of her own, she had an unwavering love for children. She poured her heart into mentoring through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and was affectionately known as the “favorite auntie or the baby whisperer.” To her nieces and nephews, she was more than an aunt—she was a second mother, a guide, and a constant source of love and support. Ebonie’s kindness, dedication, and nurturing spirit touched everyone who knew her. She is deeply missed and will be forever cherished by her family and all whose lives she influenced. Ebonie has gone to be reunited with her late father, Preston Ervin, and her brother Anthony Ervin. Her memory will be carried on by those she’s leaves behind including her loving mother, Julia Ervin; her siblings: Mandel Ervin, Antwan (Tiffany Ervin), Melissa Ervin, and Candis Burns; and her beloved nieces and nephews: Randall, Leondre, Nassir, Lamont, Nautica, Azaria, Jaelin, Antwan Jr., Emorie, Elijah, Camiah, Dominque, Jameir, and Chozen. Ebonie’s legacy of love, learning, and service will live on through all who were blessed to know her.
