Eric L. Whetsell was born on February 20, 1954 in Summerville, SC to the late Harold and Bernice S. Whetsell. He was the fifth child born to this union. He departed this life on Wednesday July 22, 2020 at Summerville Medical Center.

Eric completed his education at Summerville High School in 1971 and went on to complete two years of college at The College of Charleston. He was joined in matrimony to Lynne Lemon on November 11, 1978. From this union 3 children were born, Eric Jamal, Stephenie Jarrell, and Kirstin Alexandria.

Eric followed in his father's footsteps doing home repairs and carpentry work.  In his free time he enjoyed bowling, playing dominoes, watching sports and wrestling, and could spend all day watching the Sy-Fy channel.

Eric was preceded in death by his parents Harold T. and Bernice S. Whetsell, his daughter, Stephenie Jarrell, as well as his loving brother, Dr. Carl Gene Whetsell.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Lynne Lemon Whetsell of Pooler, GA. His children, Eric Jamal (Amanda) of Pooler, GA and Kirstin Taylor of Dallas, TX. Siblings, Harold (Yvonne) of Florham Park, NJ, Henry (Sabina), Vonman, Kermit Sr. (Paula), Dorene and Vanessa, all of Summerville, and Christopher (Chantelle) of North Charleston.  His six grandchildren, Tavayah, Gabryelle, Anaias, Alani, Alexander and Anari along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
