Dr. Jerry Lee Scott,Sr., departed his life on November 14, 2024. He was the son of the late Carol A. Scott, Sr. and Rev. Gladys I. Scott. He was born on June 19, 1961, in Charleston, South Carolina and attended Charleston County Schools, including Chicora Elementary and Chicora High School. After graduating high school, he went to South Carolina State University where he joined the marching band and pledged the Kappa Kappa Psi Fraternity Inc. He was then given the name "Shoes" by his fraternity brothers. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Teaching from SCSU, his love of music fueled by his passion for imparting wisdom led to a career teaching music in the public school system. Dr. Scott joined the manufacturing industry as an employee at North Safety Products in North Charleston, South Carolina where he served for twenty years. He then joined the Boeing family as a role model, leader, teacher, and mentor for 17 years in fabrication and production. While at Boeing he graduated from Colorado Technical University earning a Doctorate of Management degree. He published various articles in his field of study while also being an active member of the SCSU Alumni Association, the Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, and the International Society for Organization Development and Change. Throughout his life, he enjoyed playing the soprano and alto saxophone, playing the piano, building computers for family and friends, spending time with his family, and making people laugh. He was preceded in death by his father, Carol A. Scott, Sr., and his brother, Captain Randolph Scott. He leaves behind his wife, Barbara E. Scott, his son, Jerry Lee Scott, Jr., two stepdaughters, Tiara A. Brown and Posetta N. Brown, a niece whom he raised as his own, Sherice A. Myers, and three grandchildren, Elijah Qamar Scott, Jeremiah Lamar Scott, and Charles Elliott Brown. Along with them, he leaves behind his mother, Rev. Gladys I. Scott, and his siblings, Carol A. Scott Jr. (Nilka), Hazel Jackson (Ronald), Erick E. Scott, Hattie S. Sims, Linda Smith, Frederick A. Scott, Sr. (Virna), and Sherry D. Scott-Buggs (Juandario). He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
