We mourn the loss of Mae Frances Ferrell, a beloved resident of Summerville, SC, who was born May 11, 1948 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. Surrounded by her loved ones, Mae peacefully passed away on October 16, 2023. She was the cherished wife of Clifford Ferrell and the loving mother of Somona and Shakira.

She was a wonderful mother, sister and friend who was always there when we needed her. Her smile lit up every room and she truly never met a stranger, striking up a conversation and laughing with everyone. Mae was a well-loved member of the Summerville community and her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Mae is survived by her daughters, Somona Yvonne Ferrell and Shakira Ferrell, as well as her grandchildren, Kayla Simone Alexander and David Charles Alexander. She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford Ferrell. Mae is also survived by her sisters: Patricia Butler (Carl), Mimi Chavis (Willie), Naomi Douglas (Weston), Audrey Mitchell (Charles); and her brothers: Arthur Austin (Tonya), Alvin Heyward (Roxanne), Delim Jamar (Edo). She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will cherish her memory.

Mae found fulfillment in her role as a respiratory therapist at St. James Hospital in Newark, NJ. Upon returning to South Carolina, she took delight in visiting the Ladies Choice spa and treasured the bond she shared with her church family as a longtime member of New Ashley Baptist Church. member of New Ashley Baptist Church.
