Mrs. Marie Alston was born February 19, 1939 to the late Rosalee Murray and Marion Edwards in Charleston, S.C. Marie was educated in the public school of Charleston and New York County, graduating from C. A. Brown High School. After graduation, she attended Farrow Beauty School in Charleston, S.C. where she received her license in cosmetology and worked in the field. During her life span, Marie held positions and jobs to include Americana Hotel in North Charleston, S. C. where she worked as a housekeeper and White Oak Manor Nursing home in North Charleston, S. C. where she worked as a nurse's aide. At an early age, Marie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was baptized and received the Holy Ghost. She was a faithful member at the Reform House of God and was a member of the choir. Marie was married to the late Albert William Alston. She dedicated her life to her family and love them very much. Marie was preceded in death by her mother, Rosalee Murray and father, Marion Edwards; and two of her siblings, Dorothy Myers and Willie Myers. Marie leaves to cherish her memory her daughters; Jacqueline Alston and Stephanie Alston of Blythewood, SC; her son, Albert Alston of West Columbia, SC; sister, Mary (Bootsie) Alvarez of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren, Carlissa Alston of Blythewood, SC; Albert Coaxum of Charleston, SC; Emily Alston and Eric Alston of West Columbia, SC; two sister-in-laws, four brother in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
