IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Melvin
Norris
July 15, 1952 – June 14, 2025
Melvin" Pumpkin" Norris passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025. Born on July 15, 1952, he lived a life full of purpose, creativity, and love. At a young age Melvin proudly served his country as a serviceman in the U.S. Air Force. Beyond his service, he was a talented and gifted self-taught oil painter, often creating powerful works that reflected the plight of religious Black American experience. His ability to paint from memory or sight was a God given talent. Melvin was also a self-taught skilled carpenter and craftsman, drawing spiritual inspiration from the story of Jesus himself. He loved the state of Florida, traveling often by car, and never missed a chance to enjoy the open road. Sociable and full of warmth, Melvin was loved by all who met him. He is preceded in death by his mother, Isabell Norris -Taylor, and stepfather, Virgil Taylor.
He leaves behind one daughter, Victoria Norris, forever in his heart, along with a host of immediate family, friends, and loved ones who cherish his memory. Melvin's life was a true work of art—full of faith, color, and kindness.
