Ransom
King
August 2, 1948 – April 6, 2026
Ransom King, a devout believer in our Lord and Savior, from Ridgeville, South Carolina, returned to God in his home surrounded by loved ones on Monday, April 6th. Born in Ridgeville, South Carolina in 1948 to Mattie "MJ" Blanchard and Marion King, he spent his childhood with his brothers in New York. Later adventuring to Connecticut and finally returning home to South Carolina.
Ransom could always be found thriving in his passions of singing, painting, gardening and landscaping. Transforming areas into meticulously manicured spaces of haven. As a proud member of New Hope United Methodist Church, his Christian values informed every aspect of his life and molded him into the beloved individual he was. Always speaking praises and positive expressions of "that's special". Never meeting a stranger, always meeting a buddy or friend.
Diagnosed a second time with cancer, he courageously faced the battle head on and took solace in knowing the Lord was watching over him. He continued to thank God for each blessed day he was able to spend precious time with those who affectionally called him, "Uncle Buddy" or brother.
Ransom was preceded in death by his late father Marion King, his older brother Paul King, his aunts and uncle, who he will meet again in Heaven.
He is survived by his mother Mattie Blanchard, his oldest brother Calvin King, his son Shandul Singleton, niece Shanelle King Arroyo, her husband Gabriel Arroyo, and his cherished grand-nephew and nieces Israel, Yareli, and Ariyel Arroyo, his church family, a host of cousins and other loved ones who know that Ransom "Uncle Buddy" King will be waiting for them in heaven.
