Renee Boyd Ford , Age 63, of Hempstead, New York, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025, at Mercy Jewish Hospital. Born to the late Inez C. Bowser and Cicero Boyd, Renee lived a life filled with love, dedication, and compassion.
Renee was a proud graduate of Harleyville-Ridgeville High School, Class of 1979, and Columbia College. She devoted her career to serving others as a compassionate home health aide with AHRC Nassau, where she made a profound impact on the lives of those she cared for. Known for her remarkable memory, Renee had a unique gift for remembering the birthdays of every family member, reflecting her sharp mind and loving spirit. Her sense of humor, generosity, and kindness made her a joy to be around. Renee cherished her family deeply, finding fulfillment in preparing meals that brought warmth and togetherness to her loved ones. An accomplished basketball player, Renee embodied a lifelong passion for self-improvement and community engagement. Her infectious laughter and unwavering support uplifted everyone she encountered, making them feel valued and appreciated.
Renee was preceded in death by her parents and several beloved family members: Charlie and Ollie Calhoun, Shellie and Lillie Boyd, Collette Boyd, Joe Louis Calhoun, Brenda Calhoun, William "Bill" Calhoun, Dorothy Martin, and Todd Bailey.
She leaves to cherish her memory: A beloved second father, Rev. William H.D. Bowser Jr. of Aiken, SC; Siblings: Bradley Smith (Sonia) of Alexandria, VA; Vernon T. Smith (Theresa) of Aiken, SC; Kristy C. Bowser (USA); and Kim L. Smith of Summerville, SC; Aunts: Burnette C. Williams of Dorchester, SC; Edna Calhoun of Brooklyn, NY; Jesse Spence of Grandy, NC; and Lillian Bullock of Brooklyn, NY; Her cherished goddaughter, Sheena W. Williams of Walterboro, SC; A devoted friend, James Griffin of Hempstead, NY. Additionally, she is survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Renee's legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
