Obituary

Gunnery Sergeant Wayne Stephen Wright was born on January 21, 1960 to Mrs. Carolyn Barnwell Wright and the late Mr. Melnotte Wright in Syracuse, New York. He graduated from Summerville High School in June 1978 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served and protected the United States for 20 years until his retirement on September 1, 2008. Wayne loved everyone and everyone loved Wayne. Wayne was always good natured, gregarious, gentle, funny and warm. He was generous in spirit and helped people with both his time and money. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was well liked and well loved. while some people took advantage of his generosity and compassion. Wayne never became resentful or regretful. Wayne was the kind of friend you could call on anytime you were in trouble or in need of help. Wayne was always proud and humble and never wanted to impose on anyone. After the Marine Corps, Wayne began his career as a professional party planner and office manager. He became a community activist for "the underdog" in multiple areas of California. He was precede in death by his father Mr. Melnotte Wright. He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Carolyn; sister Melvenia (Marion Jr.) Muller and brother Paul; two nieces Maya and Brittany; four nephews Marion III, Michael, Sterling and Phillip; two god-daughters April and Taylor. A host of cousins, friends, extended family and friends in California.
