Mr. Willie "Billie" James Capers, Sr., age 90, of Summerville, SC, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2022, at his home after a brief illness. Willie Capers, Sr. was born on August 28, 1931, to the late Sam and Georgie Capers of Georgetown, SC. Willie and his siblings grew up in a Christian home and he surrendered his life to Christ at an early age at St. Stephens AME Church in Georgetown, SC. He was educated in the public-school system of Georgetown County and graduated from Howard High School. It was in that year that he joined the United States Air Force. Willie was a patriotic man that proudly served our country in the United States Air Force for 20 years. Shortly, after retiring from the military, he moved to Summerville, SC, with his family where he worked at Robert Bosch Manufacturing Plant where he retired once again. A good, strong-willed, man, Willie dedicated his life to his family and friends. When Willie wasn't working, he loved watching sports, returning to Georgetown to see family and friends, and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Willie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He joined in holy matrimony to Janie Bell Pringle Capers in 1956. From this union, they were blessed with two amazing children who preceded him in death: Willie (Yolanda) Capers, Jr. and Pamela Capers. Also, preceding him in death are his parents: Sam and Georgie Capers; brothers: Jerome, Clarence, Leon, Luther, Leroy and sisters: Dorothy and Elizabeth, several aunts, uncles, several cousins, and dear friends. Willie leaves to cherish fond memories, a loving wife, Janie Capers of Summerville, SC, five grandchildren: Natalie Capers of Charleston, SC, Kathy Jackson of Summerville, SC, Jeremy Aiken of Atlanta, GA, Kianna Capers of Spartanburg, SC and Nekebia Phillips of Summerville, SC. Two Great granddaughters, Sole Boyd of Charleston, SC and Kenishia Williams of Summerville, SC. Three siblings: Geraldine (Ezekiel) Singleton of Charlotte, NC, Sam Capers of New York, NY, and Cornelius Earl (Johnnie Mae) Capers of Macon, GA. Willie was a father and grandfather figure to Chloe Brown, Jay'siah Johnson, James Johnson Jr., and Ashley Goodwin. He will be missed by a host of additional nieces, nephews, cousins, and other long-time family friends.
