Deacon James Linning Sr Obituary

Deacon James Linning Sr., Son of the late John Wesley Linning and Mrs. Willie Mae (Simmons) Linning was born August 19th in the year 1937, in Summerville, SC (Dorchester County). He departed this world on Sunday, May 15th, 2022.
James received his education from Alston high school and received his diploma in 1959. In the same year he met the love of his life("Marin"), Marion Estelle Varner, which would be his future wife of 59 years; they entered holy matrimony in 1962. From this union two children were born. James gave his life to Christ in 1968 and that day forward, he went to be very active in the church. He was a Sunday School teacher for over 20 plus years, an usher president, and chairman of the deacon board, among so many other facets of the Christian realm.
James was a hard-working man. He always showed a strong work ethic, even at an early age, when he helped his father on the farm. Throughout his working career, he spent many years at several different manufacturing plants and working any odd jobs to help a friend or family member. He was truly the embodiment of the saying, "jack of all trades, master of none" (except for conversation).
James impacted the entire tri county area with his infectious personality, in which he visited the sick and shut-in, hospitalized, and sat with "random" strangers and imparted his knowledge about God and life to anyone who would listen.
