Helena Tompkins- Hicks, affectionately known as “Rooster” was born to the late Daniel Lee and Helen Duberry on June 20, 1941. She was the oldest of nine children. She was born and raised
in the Sugar Hill Community in Summerville, SC. She had a love for fashion, travel, cooking, entertaining, reggae music, and fishing in Ravenel, SC. Helena moved to New York in 1971 and returned home in 1999. Her love for travel had her living in Alabama, Texas, North Carolina, and Germany. Helena was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Danny, Adolph, Winfred, Kathy, Kenny, and Ronnie. She is survived by her loving children: Brenda (Carl) of Columbia, SC, Lenard (Maria) of Columbia SC, Linda Tompkins of Summerville SC; grandchildren: Steven (Lyndsay), Erika (Michael), Grady and Destiny; great grandchildren: Juwan, Fallyan, Jenna, Micah, Deshawn, Quincy, Tyson, Mashawn, Cole and little Grady; siblings: Maggie, Charles, Chris, and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Mask are required to be worn while visiting the family and during the funeral service.
