On Saturday, November 7, 2020, God summoned home the soul of John Edward Malloy. His soul winged its flight from this world of sin, sorrow and pain to a place of eternal peace.
John Edward Malloy affectionately called “Duck” by his family and friends was born September 10, 1953 to the late Johnny Malloy and Margaret Malloy Blake. He was the step son of the late Cardinal Blake. John was formerly married to Zena Smith Malloy and with this union, they were blessed with one child.
John was taught at an early age the importance of having a relationship with Christ. He was a member of Ebenezer AME Church. He graduated from Burke High School in 1972. After graduating high school, he attended DeVry Institute of Technology. He went on to join the US Army and served for five years and received an honorable discharge. John worked faithfully at several industrial plants over the years until his health would no longer allow.
John was a writer of poetry and entered many contests. He even had one of his poem published in a book of poetry. He was a loyal die hard Atlanta Falcons fan. John was a great cook and loved cooking Sunday dinners and listening to his favorite song “can’t give up now.”
John leaves to cherish his precious memories: His loving and devoted daughter Desirae Malloy of Summerville SC; Two (2) sisters, Marie Waring of Charleston, SC and Joyce Harrell of Denver, Co; Three (3) brothers, Harry Malloy, Norman Malloy (Amy) & Mark Blake Sr. all of Charleston, SC; Step Mother, Agie Malloy of Charleston, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
