Lamont Roper Obituary

Lamont Cedrick Roper was born in Charleston SC on February 27, 2022, to Mr. and Mrs. Samuel and Mary Roper.  Lamont resided in Summerville SC with his wife and kids. On July 25, 2022, he entered into eternal rest with a host of loved ones at his bedside; specifically, his wife of 24 years, Tanya, holding his hand and his two children Caliph and Joshua, who loved and cared for their Dad religiously during his illness.  Lamont graduated from Burke high school where he was a proud member of Burke’s esteemed band, where he was a trumpet player. He served as an honorable U.S. Marine before he attended Tuskegee University. Then, Lamont transferred to Morris College where he earned his BA degree. He used his business degree to transfer into the Computer IT (Information Technology) field. Lamont loved tinkering with computers by taking them apart and rebuilding them. This task was not just a job but lots of fun for
him. Lamont parlayed his love of all things IT into a rewarding career as an IT Professional for several reputable companies such as the Naval Base, MUSC Hospital, Roper Hospital and others around the Charleston SC area. Outgoing, joyful and a jokester is how everyone will remember Lamont. He always had a laugh, a smile and a kind word to faces old and new. He would make the best of the worst situations. Lamont leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by his stories and hilarious sense of humor. Not only was Lamont smart and witty, but he truly brought life to the party. So, let's remember Lamont - known as "Rope-A-Dope" to his friends with his wife "Roper's Gal" at his side. Let's celebrate Lamont with fond memories and laughter in our hearts! He was preceded in death by his father Samuel Roper, his brother Wendell Roper, and his mother-in-law Thelma Clark. Lamont leaves to cherish his memories his wife Tanya Clark Roper, two children Caliph Lamont Roper and Joshua Cedrick Roper of the home; his mother Mary Roper of Charleston SC, his father-in-law John Clark (Ruden Clark) of Santee SC; he further leaves behind five sisters in law and two brothers in law, Tarressa ‘Reat’ Stukes of Summerton SC, Cynthia ‘Cyn’ Williams of Summerville SC, Sophia Clark Leslie (Carl Leslie) of Atlanta GA, Frina Stukes of Goose Creek SC and John “Bruce” Clark of Orangeburg SC, 12 nieces and nephews, Patricia “PJ”, Jason, Elijah, Shaquana, Terrance “TJ”, Mahogany, Latisha “Tee-Tee”, Frayondre, Swandi, Dalvondre, Youleania “Lena”; 8 grand nieces and nephews, Talia, Mya, Elaisha, Chassidy, Eyanna, Emoni, Lunden, Elijah-Jr., and a host of cousins, friends and loved ones.
