Leon Duggins Obituary

Leon Duggins , the second son of the late Floyd and Florence Miller Duggins was born on September 21, 1937 in Summerville, SC. Early on January 17, 2019 at Summerville Medical Center, Leon traded this life, for one we could only imagine. Upon graduating from Alston High School, Leon enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he worked as an air craft mechanic. Leon served four years of Active Duty. After his four years, he would enlist in the Air National Guard where he worked as a Crew Chief on Buckley Base in Colorado. He would serve for 20 years, and during his time he would do a tour in Vietnam as a flight mechanic. Upon his retirement, he obtained the rank of Master Sargent. While in the Air Force, Leon would marry the former Johnnie Bledsoe and to this union one child would be born. Upon his return to Summerville, Leon would meet Yina Spooner. Leon would be her helpmate until her death. Leon loved his family and his friends and gave of himself to anyone in need. Leon was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Yina Spooner Duggins, his brothers Floyd, Alfred, Wallace and Donald. Those left to cherish his memory and humble spirit his son Leon Pete Duggins, Jr.; his sisters and brothers Rudolph Chris Duggins (Barbara), Leah Duggins, Deloris Lambright and Goldie Marie McMichael (Charles); sisters -in-law Sarah Duggins and Geraldine Duggins; one uncle Melvin Duggns; children whom his love extended to Charlotte James, Howie Bledsoe, Jerome Hopkins and the late Ramona Beldsoe. Shetina Spooner England, Wesley Spooner and Steve Spooner, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
