Obituary

Reverend Harriet Celestine Miller was born July 9, 1953 to the late Elias T. Moorer and late Arthuree (Chisolm) Moorer in North Charleston, SC. She attended Bonds Wilson High school until it was integrated in 1970. Due to this integration she graduated from Chicora High School in 1971. After high school she went on to attend Benedict College in Columbia, SC where she graduated with a mathematics/physics degree. During her time at Benedict she became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated. A few years after college she joined the United States Air Force. During her time in the service she met and wed the late Reverend Clarence Earl Miller on September 8, 1984. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1984 she spent her time traveling with her husband as he continued his service to the United States Air Force. After his retirement they moved back to Charleston, SC where they spent a few years before finally moving to Summerville, SC where she resided with her husband until his death in July of 2022. During this time she worked for Charleston County as a Trade Tech I. She stayed with Charleston County until her retirement. In 2010 she entered the ministry for the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. She pastored at the following churches Trinity CME Church (Allendale, SC) and Hodges Chapel CME (Fairfax, SC). Revered Miller is preceded in death by her husband Reverend Clarence E. Miller, sisters Catherine (Chisolm) Green, Betty (Chisolm) Dantzler, and brother Elias T.
Moorer, Jr. She is survived by her son Antonio D. Moorer and daughter Catherine E. McKoy (Marshall), sister Gladys O. Moorer, seven grandchildren Shadasia, Taniya, Antonio Jr., Heaven, Malik, Jeremiah, and Daylen, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members that were loved by her.
