Robert Grant Obituary

Robert Lee Grant, son of Tommie Lee Grant, Sr. and the late Josephine Grant was born on Friday, May 11, 1951. He departed this physical life on Saturday, September 5, 2020.

Robert attended the public schools in Holly Hill, SC. He graduated from Roberts High School and then studied at Denmark Technical College, earning a degree in Heavy Equipment Operations. Robert also had a passion for electronics and construction and made a career as an Electronics Repair Technician and Floor Covering Installer. Robert was a phenomenal cook and shared his ministry of hospitality and talent of cooking with everyone.

Robert was married to Barbara (Hodges) Grant on September 23, 1972. He was a member of Grace Communion Ladson Church where he had been a faithful servant as a Deacon, Coordinator of Community Outreach Ministry, Building and Grounds Superintendent, Choir Member, Worship Leader, Coordinator of the food pantry, member of the Men’s ministry, and a Leadership Committee member.

Robert is preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Grant, and brother Johnnie Lee Grant. He leaves wonderful memories to be cherished by his devoted and loving wife of 47 years, Barbara Grant, Summerville, SC.  His children: Monica (Kendrick) Grant-Peoples of Fort Myers, FL; Robert Anthony (Lee) Grant of Summerville, SC; Travis (Kelly) Grant and Andre (Lucy) Grant both of Miami, FL; and Robert L. Grant of Summerville, SC; 6 grandchildren- Danielle, James, Jr., Jasmine, Cristina, Stylus and Ejaylah and 5 great-grandchildren; His father, Tommie Lee Grant, Sr. of Summerville, SC; His siblings: Nathaniel (Ophelia) Grant and Janet Grant, sister-in-law, of Holly Hill, SC; Joann (Kenneth) Jackson of Macon, GA; Clara (George) Martin; Tommie (Robin) Grant, Jr; Rose M. Hamrick and Donna Grant all of Summerville, SC; Anthony(Valerie)Pelzer, Fayetteville, NC; Roger(Tracy) Pelzer, Minot, ND; Mother-in-law, Dorothy (Nate) White of Walterboro, SC; Brother-in-laws: David Hodges and Kennedy (Anna) Hodges, both of  Walterboro, SC, and Melvin Hodges of Summerville, SC. Sister-in-laws: Annie Thompson of Walterboro, SC and Joyce (James) Myers of Orangeburg, SC.; special aunt, Magdeline Fulton; special nephew, Lamar Grant, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
