Ruben Jerome “Kevin” Doctor was born December 12, 1956, to the late Willie Doctor and Elois Doctor of Ridgeville, South Carolina. He was nine of twelve siblings.
Kevin was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County. He graduated from Harleyville-Ridgeville High School. After graduating high school, he went straight into the workforce. He was employed by R & M Company. He was also employed by Westvaco and Broyhill Furniture. As a true working man, he contined to work diligently as an employee of Link Incorporation. He was a dedicated public servant and found joy working as a funeral assistant at Albert A. Glover Funeral Home for over 30 years. As a young man, he loved the game of baseball. He played in the town’s softball league for many years. He was a dedicated and loyal fan of the Miami Dolphins.
Kevin was united in Holy matrimony to Lennie M. Gaddist on October 15, 1983. To this union, four children were born; Latoya E. Doctor, Rasheen D. Doctor, Rashawn D. Doctor and Justin M. Doctor. His legacy continued with the blessings of five grandchildren, Makhi, Marquis (preceded in death), Jayden, Mickah, Gabriel and Isaiah.
Kevin joined Bethel A. M. E. Church at a young age. He was a faithful young member of the Usher Board and attended Sunday School regularly. As an adult, he joined Christ Temple Deliverance Church with his wife and family and served as a faithful member for many years. He served on the Usher Board and the Choir. In the latter part of his life, Kevin decided to return to his home church of Bethel A. M. E. Church where he served faithful member of the Usher Board. Kevin’s earthy works lay the foundation for his heaven-bound intentions. He loved God, adore his family, and appreciated the gift of giving and doing for others.
Ruben Jerome “Kevin” Doctor leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and caring wife, Lennie M. Doctor of 36 years; his four children, Latoya, Rasheen, Rashawn and Justin; his five grandchildren, Makhi, Jayden, Mickah, Gabriel and Isaiah; twelve siblings, Ernest Doctor (preceded in death), Willie (Hattie) Doctor (preceded in death), Eliza Collins (preceded in death), Charles (Betty) Doctor, Milton (the late Connie) Doctor, Frankie (Elaine) Doctor, Jimmy (Edna) Doctor, Carrol (Deloris) Doctor, Deloris (Thaddeus) Doctor, Michael (Annie Ruth) Doctor, Greg (Rita) Doctor and Keith (Loretta) Doctor; one aunt, Betty Sedwick; mother-in-law, Mary (Daniel) Rivers; loving-in-laws, Norman (Christina), Jeremy Gaddist, Jamal Gaddist, Twana Shine and Ricky (preceded in death), Brenda; special family members, Mildred Gaddist, Kenya Gaddist and Diana Adams; special daughter, Shaterri Simmons; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
